With the end of WW1, Ottoman Empire had totally collapsed. Ataturk, who was an high rank army officer resigned from Ottoman Army, and he has been our national and military leader in our War of Independence. He and his comrades created a new national army from a hopeless nation, successfully ended the war, and finally , young Turkish Republic was established in 1923.
